# Hello! I recently was gifted a new rubber plant and it has not done…

Hello! I recently was gifted a new rubber plant and it has not done well in my apartment. I originally put it by the main window in my living room that gets indirect light but still ample lighting. All my other plants are fine there but this one has quickly declined in health. Any suggestions?

A few things I would check... Is it right up in the window? My peperomias do much better with slightly less light. It may be too bright next to a window. Next, is the soil extremely wet or extremely dry? If it's wet and adjusting lighting doesn't improve it, definitely check for root rot.

Yes I was thinking check for root rot also.

The soil is dry but I feel like it dries out quickly.  
I've moved it from right up at the window to a shelf across from the window (6ft away)

It looks thirsty. I see you last watered it almost three weeks ago, but you said the soil dries quickly. Maybe it needs to be watered a bit more often?
