# I could use some advice: I repotted this plant on December 10, 2025…

I could use some advice: I repotted this plant on December 10, 2025 from propagated cuttings. Roots are now growing out the bottom. Should I repot again? I don’t want to shock the plant, but I want it to continue to grow big.

Is it needing to be watered more than usual? Roots growing out of the bottom don’t always mean they’re ready something’s they just grow down rather than around.

Yeah you can probably repot now; depending on the overall root mass you might size up or reuse the same pot; it looks like you might have only a few roots that went for length or you might have a full pot. If you're almost full on roots, it'll drain faster than normal

In my experience my Purple Hearts don’t care much about anything, very forgiving. I’ve had root bound ones that push out new growth and I’m sure when I started with plants that I abused it. I have one in a pot then a bucket under it with water and it grew its roots down into water and it loves it!

That’s true, I could try to take it out of the pot and see what the root ball looks like. And if it’s not crowded maybe push those roots back in. I usually bottom water so those roots could have “escaped” being drawn to the water.

Thanks everyone!
