I've found if you talk softly and tell them you're proud of them, they'll grow better. Most fun-picking should be saved for data entries. This works for plants too. (Silly)

Speaking kindly is helpful for mental health, which can absolutely help you take care of it, as well as it's been proven the carbon dioxide and sound of you talking to it can absolutely benefit the plant!
