# So I noticed this color on my hoya leaf and when I went to check it…

_Posted by Stephanie on 2025-03-12_

So I noticed this color on my hoya leaf and when I went to check it out the leaf fell off and the one under it has some of the same thing on it. Does anyone know what it is and what I should do? Thanks for any help

It could be some type of a fungus called sooty mold or some other spot disease. Cinnamon and neem oil (not used together) can be useful in treating fungus on Hoya. Assuming that this is a fungus.

It's dry and nothing rubs off when I touched it. Does that help?

It could be a watering issue. Both overwatering and slightly under watering produces similar leaves on some thick leaf hoyas. Let the soil completely dry out between waterings.

Check for pests to eliminate variable.

Leaf spots do not necessarily rub off.

Good to know. I use a wooden stick to check the soil before I water it so it could be to dry but I will also keep it away from other plants and treat it. Thanks for the help
