# I repotted my Snake after a week of keeping it in the plastic nursery…

_Pubblicato da JenThon🪴🪷 il 2024-09-30_

I repotted my Snake after a week of keeping it in the plastic nursery pot where it was clearly soaked and in the wrong soil.
I got my succulent soil in and bought a terra cotta pot so it would dry faster. I removed all the wet potting soil, but either someone stuck a bunch of individual plants together with 1 inch roots, or they rotted. So that’s what I had to work with.
I mixed 3/4 succulent soil, 1/4 potting mix, added 1 tsp white vinegar to acidify, mixed well and repotted. Didn’t know if I was supposed to water so added a cup distilled water. Although the plant looks great, I really want to water it well with added organic fertilizer, to give those roots a chance to grow and grab hold.
Should I? I know the Planta app will adjust, no?

Rather than fertilizer, a mycorrhizae additive would help with the roots! It adds the beneficial bacteria needed for healthy root development and has pretty much eliminated transplant shock as a problem for me :) I believe fertilizer can sometimes be too much at the beginning sometimes when they’re settling in still

Also, is there a brand you recommend?

I use the great white shark mycorrhizae. You can get it from Amazon :)

Love your snake plant and the type of soil doesn’t really since hydra(my snake plant in the photo below) is more than a meter tall, constantly producing new leaves and it’s in general potting soil mix. So the problem is most likely either watering too frequently(snake plants should be treated like cactus and succulents since they are just as drought tolerant) or soil is too lumpy and just needs to be loosened up.

The store soaked it, I felt so sorry for it.

It’s ok if they over watered it These plants are very forgiving and are the easiest houseplant to care for. So there is no need to worry about it dying, because it would be virtually impossible to kill it no matter one’s experience level.
