# I just got a new Areca/Bamboo Palm and I was wondering; How much…

I just got a new Areca/Bamboo Palm and I was wondering; How much water should I give it?  
Online, it says 0.8 of a cup but I wanted to ask here first before I did anything dumb. (By the way, the plant is 6-7 feet tall and is in a 5 gallon pot) Thank you!

for most plants, you water them until the water starts to come out the drainage holes at the bottom. that way all the soil (and roots) get saturated. 0.8 cups of water doesn’t seem like enough for such a big plant! over/under watering refers more to how often you water, not how much water you give each time

With most plants it all depends on how large the pot is. The large pots need more water.
