I got this zz plant from my sister. Since I have had it it is sending up this shoot that is much taller and lighter in color than the rest of the plant. Should I cut this new growth to give energy to the rest of the plant? If so, can I propagate the cutting in water?

It could be looking for more light. So, it might put out another one. You can cut it. It propagates in water using the leaves or stems.

I have a green ZZ it started like that I replanted it and now it’s very big, you have to put it in another bigger pot so it continues to grow and put it where the light is not the sun and get ready to see it grow, I love my ZZ it always has a new baby.

If you do choose to cut it and propagate in water, it takes months to develop any roots but don’t give up!
