# So, I just repotted these three. They were clippings in a porcelain…

_Geplaatst door Diana op 2025-02-21_

So, I just repotted these three. They were clippings in a porcelain pot that I believe was making it sick and only had one drainage hole. I do not over water her at all because I know these Swiss cheese ones don’t want a bunch. How do I help her from here?? She’s in a 6in pot which idk if it’s the right size but it has long roots. Thanks in advance!

Is it just because of the drainage hole issue or is there an issue with porcelain pots I don't know about? Cuz I know I have a couple so now I'm wondering LOL

My porcelain pot had paint chipping away on the inside. Which was causing it to get almost like a “rust” build up around it. Idk how else to describe it. So, old pot falling apart plus only one drainage hole. I think caused it to get root rot. Or the clippings were not from a healthy momma plant.

What's the humidity and the light and temps?

#### Diana antwoordde op 2025-02-21

No humidity, and she sits pretty close to the window like yours. It gets indirect sunlight all day cuz the house faces north.

I don't really think mine is the happiest with me either I think I need to fertilize mine

She looks like she’s doing pretty good to me. Maybe just loosing some leaves cuz it’s winter time. Fertilizer looks to be the solution on that one! How often do you water yours?

Did you change the potting medium/mess with roots when repotting? Might just be shock. Monstera don’t do it as often as some others but it can still happen.

Also, just to make sure: when you say you don’t overwater, do you mean in volume, frequency, or both?

#### Diana antwoordde op 2025-03-02

I gave it new soil and a new pot with waaaaay more drainage holes. She doesn’t seem to be in shock tho cuz her stems are not as floppy anymore and she is growing a few new shoots finally.

I would say both. I don’t water again until the soil is completely dry.

It’s just under watered.

When plants are underwaterd, they droop when plants are overwatered they get mushy.

I agree! I’ve been worried about overwatering her

Well I have a water meter so when it says dry I usually water it but typically it's about every 4 or 5 days I give it some water not a lot but I keep a heater to where it stays at least 67 in the sunroom and I keep the humidifier on in there so it's got humidity in the 50s cuz I know they like humidity before I got the humidifier the leaves were all wrinkled on my mini monstera too and alocasia

#### Diana antwoordde op 2025-03-02

Yup, my leaves are wrinkly too. I definitely need to get a humidifier for the poor thing! I also got her a grow light and she is loving it so far.

I'm gonna say underwatered. You want to water as soon as it drys out, until it runs out the drainage holes. If it stays wet for a long time the pot is too big. I have had adansoniis go into shock when I move them from water to soil, but not usually just from repotting.

#### Diana antwoordde op 2025-03-02

She appreciated being repotted. I honestly think the one she was in and the soil it had just wasn’t a good fit for her. The stems are not as floppy and she is starting to stand up a bit and has a few new shoots coming in after not growing this whole winter 😓

Great! So glad she's improving😊

#### Diana antwoordde op 2025-03-02

Same! Thank you for the potting tip. How long is too long for this one to stay wet? It says to water her every 13 days but idk

#### Abbi antwoordde op 2025-03-02

Well first of all you might know this but check it, don't go by the app becuz it isn't very accurate. I would say most of mine get watered at least one a week but I wouldn't freak out if it doesn't need water until almost two weeks. Three weeks is pry pushing it.

Thank you for all the advice! I think the humidifier and giving her more water did the trick 🤩

I fertilized mine the other day when we were talking about it and it seems to be doing great she's a happy girl I'm so glad yours is too
