# I’ve just got this little bonsai umbrella tree given to me as a gift…

I’ve just got this little bonsai umbrella tree given to me as a gift from a friend any suggestions or ideas for caring for it. I’m new to bonsai and I don’t want to kill this plant. I have another umbrella tree but they are different but idk if they have the same care needs. Both of the plants are included in the post what’s the difference between the are they different types this app classifies them as the same.

My friend had one and she put it but a window and when watering it she would use the mist things for succulents

They are the same and will have similar care needs. Plants trained as bonsai do need good drainage in their soil when compared to non-bonsai. Also you'll want to do styling and pruning about once a year with repotting and root trimming less often (every other year or just whenever it seems to need it)

They are definitely the same type of plant. Bonsai plants are full sized plants that have been trained to grow as miniature versions. They definitely need more time and attention to help maintain their small size. Ultimately they should shrink their foliage and look like a tiny version of a mature full-sized plant. They will dry out faster simply because there is less soil and water available. Best recommendation would be to find a local or online bonsai club and ask questions there.

My uncle is an award winning bonsai artist and I know he spends countless hours daily working to maintain their small stature and shapes.
