I just got this beauty for $65! It has 12 plants in it.

After I give it some time to get over the shock of coming home with me…..do you think I should start separating the plants, or can I leave it as-is?

I really want to start doing dish gardens and would love to keep it as-is, but is it already maxing out the pot?

Thanks! =)

Beautiful! I would highly consider separating. Each of those plants have various lighting/watering/soil needs. Cactuses \& succulents of different types do better grouped in pots like that.

thank you! i haven’t started researching each plant yet but was really hoping they all had the same needs 😂. That’s honestly the only reason I haven’t started dish gardens myself yet because it takes a lot of work to find plants that have the same needs! I am about to start tagging all my plants with different color stickers for different needs to start seeing which ones can be planted together but it’s such an undertaking lol. I really wish there was a grouping or filter on Planta!

Ya most places that sell those tend to just group what looks nice and not what is best for the plants. Sounds like quite an undertaking! Hope you’re successful. You could group by similar species but I know that’s not as visually interesting.

I would absolutely separate them!

I would put each in separate pots and place some back in the large vessel for display purposes.

My pic shows plants in small multi size nursery pots. They live full time in a larger 1 foot diameter pot. I remove 2 plants (Milk Confetti and Batik syngoniums) to separately water because they overwater easily for some reason. I put them back after bottom watering the remaining plants in the pot. The pot has no drainage. I just dump excess water after it rains.

I would separate because most of them have different care types

They need space like humans.Definitely separate them and put them in separate pots
