Fittonias, jewel orchids, ferns, and mosses are good beginner terrarium plants. Mini and micro orchids can also do well, but are a bit trickier (you'd want to mount them on a decorative bit of wood. After trying four different ones, I've found leptotes unicolor has been the easiest species so far.

Here I go again, raving about Pellionia… I have multiple terrariums containing Pellionia pulchra that are several years old. One is 12 years old.

Recently I’ve gotten into Sonerila. They grow easily and have stunning variation in color and pattern.

As far as setup goes, cork bark works well as a backing/climbing surface.
