# Someone save my chinese evergreen spathonema- I got it about 3 weeks…

_Posted by sofie !! on 2025-01-12_

Someone save my chinese evergreen spathonema- I got it about 3 weeks ago at Alsip when it was in near perfect health, but the leaves keep yellowing like CRAZY.. anybody know whats wrong?
And I've been pruning all the yellowing leaves that were beyond saving, is that the right thing to do?

I don’t think that’s a Chinese evergreen it is a evergeeen but not Chinese. It could be because of over watering. If the soil is too dry then it’s under watered. Snip off those pieces so the plant isn’t wasting energy.

Prob watering issue. Stuck your finger in the soil. If it’s dry dry. It needs water. If it’s moist it’s good. Also search when to water it. Idk about this plant but watering depends on the kind of plants. I have cactuses so idk 🤷‍♂️

Probably over or underwatering

I use a water thermometer (can't remember the name) to help with watering. They work pretty good especially since I can't control my watering. My OCD tells me they need more. Lol

Maybe if it'd only in that side only, the lighting is too close and the leaves are burning/fading?

You're right, i figured it out a few days ago! Moved the light back and it's looking a lot better.
