# Help! This was 2 different snake plants, one had a close call with…

Help! This was 2 different snake plants, one had a close call with root rot this summer and has just been hanging on since. I recently put them all in same pot with cactus soil, watered and then week later realized soil was not drying out and concerned about root rot again. Took them out and now I need a plan. Do I repot in small pot so they don’t have to much soil or idk what to do!

Yes, I would repot them in a small pot with well draining soil. Snake plants love to be crowded in a pot. They can handle a bit of neglect. Overwatering is the most common cause of detriment to these plants.

Repot but snake plants thrive better in a pot tight. If you can lay your entire hand in the soil easily after the repot that pot is entirely too big. This is why your soil isn’t trying out. I use orchid bark planting soil in the pink bag mixed with perlite for my plants to ensure good drainage. The one you know for sure experienced almost root rot, I would treat it would root rot stop and plant it alone from your other cuttings.. Now that it’s colder months approaching I would push back watering schedule to once a month if not two.. good luck

Repot in a smaller pot and pack the roots tight. I just use regular potting soil w a sprinkle of gravel on top to keep the roots tight
