# hey yall! planta has suggested that i move a couple of my plants…

_keys님이 2024-05-27에 게시함_

hey yall! planta has suggested that i move a couple of my plants (bearded iris and echeveria) out from the shade of my terrace into the sun of the backyard (it says the light level is too low) these plants aren’t dying, but also aren’t exactly thriving. only thing is, we live in texas where it is well over 100° right now, plus humidity through the roof. i don’t want to burn the plants— should i purchase a grow light and keep them indoors (and out of the heat) or should i just keep them outside? i’ve had them outside for a day and they don’t seem to be wilting, but it’s only been a day. i am also super new to planta and haven’t quite built up that trust. any advice?

as another Texas, you should let them acclimate slowly! Put them back under the shade for the rest of the day, then put them back out in the sun tomorrow. Slowly increasing the time in the sun and decreasing the time in the shade. If there are any days that you're really concerned about (like the 110+ degree days) then just put them back in the shade! Go even slower if they show any signs of burning

I live in South Texas and I do have succulents, including that echeveria, outside. Try to place it somewhere were it will get full morning sun but afternoon shade. That will keep it from burning. I have lost more plants during the summer than during winter 🫠 But with that lighting rule, they do thrive more outside than inside. Also, water only in the evenings, to prevent the roots boiling during the day because of to much water.
