# Hi, I’m after some advice please on whether I should cut off the 2…

Hi, I’m after some advice please on whether I should cut off the 2 brown leaves at the bottom of this Rubber tree? It will leave a very long stem with few leaves at the top. Will this look silly? I’ve only just started using this app and probably would have thrown this plant out. Just thought I’d check first if it can be saved. Thank you

A silly looking plant is better than a dead one! If the issue persists, check the roots. Make sure they’re not rotting or root bound

It looks like you have healthy new growth at the top though. So even if aesthetically you just don’t like the leggy look, most plants can be propagated and start over. Saves you money too.

Trim your Rubber plant at the top where there’s a healthy stem. It also is essential that there is at least one node (the bumps where a leaf grows from). If you do a sharp angle with shears and put it in water, you can replant when it has lots of roots and start anew!

When it looks about this long you can replant. An indirect light depending on your weather it could take 2 to 6 weeks.
