It’ll depend on the plant probably!! I have a plant that needs to stay well watered and then there are many that need to dry out a bit!!

Definitely depends on the plant! Hibiscus is going to need much more water than aloe.

Use Planta as a guide. I don’t know what plants you’ve started with, but many plants like to dry out between waterings. Use a chopstick—if there’s soil sticking to it, snooze the action. If dry, then feed the kraken. Good luck!

I check the soil and if it’s damp I don’t water it again. I snooze the watering for 2 days and check it again.

If you click on “more instructions” (at the bottom of the watering task page) it will tell you how much of the soil should be dry, depending of each individual plant! For example, my arrowhead says it should be watered today, but when I look at the additional instructions, it says about two inches of soil should be dry before watering. Mines still moist on top, so I’ll snooze the task. Happy growing!

I do wish Planta provided a little more detail on water requirements per plant and made it more upfront. I find myself googling the same plant requirements over and over

I also wouldn’t go on if the soil “looks dry.” You need to insert a stick or moisture meter to tell for sure. The custom mix I use actually always looks wet, but most of the time it is actually dry, and a lot of other soils look dry, but are quite moist halfway down the pot.

I don’t. It depends on the plant and how much light it gets also. The more light a plant gets the more water it takes in. If I watered as much as the app says my plants would all be dead.
