I keep the following in my southern windows: Desert cactus, Hoya (compacta), Jade plants, and lithops!
I also have a watermelon Peperomia that I keep about 4-5’ back from a southern window. She does really well in the less direct southern light; and it jazzes up that desk. ✨

My peperomia obtusifolias and jade plants love south-facing windows. You might want to gradually expose peperomias though, as they do well in lower light too and likely didn’t have full south sun all the time wherever they originally grew to end up in a nursery or box store. Mine started off in north windows but they definitely enjoy my south windowsills in the summer and especially in the fall when they’d really start getting less light in a lower light window. A good chunk of cacti and succulents love south windows, so there’s lots of options there, but I always recommend a good jade or peperomia obtusifolia for anyone looking for a low maintenance addition to their collection. Some specific succulents I really love for my south windowsills are sedum morganianum and kleinia petraea, if you’re looking for a low maintenance trailing plant.

Croton need bright light to keep their color.

You can put almost any plant in a south window especially with a sheer curtain to lower the intensity of the light and by moving the plant further away. Check the temperature at the window if it is not a double pane insulated window. It could get too hot depending on the zone.

I have some false Christmas cactus that love my south window. They bloom close to year round there. Also my burros tail is tolerating the light there.
