# I woke up to my spider plant ripped to shreds and the roots out of…

I woke up to my spider plant ripped to shreds and the roots out of soil, can you guess who did it?🙂🙂

It slowly is wilting more and more. I’m guessing the roots were totally exposed to air for at least a few hours in the middle of the night.

Does she stand a chance at bouncing back if I do certain things? I just got her 😭

Spider plants are super hardy. She’s prob shocked which is why it’s wilting etc.  
I’d recommend hanging her somewhere out of reach to keep the cute kitty from finishing the job.  
Just cut off any major damage you find and make sure it has good soil, water, and light.

My cat did the same thing to the spider plant I gave my mom…instead of putting it back in the soil my mom just left it sitting on top for at least a week till I came home…

What I did with it is cut all the leaves down to about 2 inches so that the plant could try to grow some roots (there were none left bc they were all dried out). I then took off all the dead roots and washed off all of the soil and put it in some water.

So far about a week after I dealt with it I’m starting to new 2 of the cut leaves growing taller than the rest and a brand new leaf coming in! Not much in the root department as of right now but I’m happy about the growth!

If you wanted to save your plant you can just clean up anything that’s rotted or dry from the roots (leave anything that looks savable), clean off all the soil, and pop it in some water!
