How should I know when to plant this? I cut it off from a freinds plant and it has been growing in water for a few weeks, the roots have begun to sprout and I’m not sure when to plant.

Ok thanks!

You want at least 2-4” of root length, and ideally secondary roots growing.

Ok!

Roots would grow faster if you cut it into 2 to 3 pieces and root each of them in water. Currently, the long stem is surviving on one little root growing slowly because energy is going into the long stem and excess leaves. Place in water when the roots are at least 2 inches. Fertilize while it’s in water. I also add SuperThrive plant vitamins.

What exactly do you mean “cut into 2 to 3 pieces”? Like, cut the stem?

Yes, cut it into smaller pieces and put all into water. The photos are of my philodendron cuttings. They have one root node each attached to a single leaf. They were very healthy. So, they grew roots very well in water.
