⚠️ advice needed ⚠️
Hi fellow plant lovers I’m in need of some emergency advice asap!
My nan recently passed away in March and today we have gone back to the house to do removals. We’ll all the plants were ofcorse dead after months of no water, BUT this parlour palm is really clinging on to life and I’d love to restore it for my nan.

What can I do?! (Repot and cut) but does she have a chance?

I’m sorry about your Nan. I don’t have much advice except to say it’s lovely of you to try to save it.

I think it can survive. You’ll only know by trying. Do as you said and I would suggest lightly watering at first since it was dry, moved then eventually repotted. I have a baby parlour that’s doing well in a partial sun window. You can give it a mist to help bring the humidity up. After two weeks add some fertilizer.

Thankyou so much I’ll keep all this notes. Sounds a perfect plan! Wish my parlour luck! 🌿♥️

I would wait just a bit to repot to not stress out or use a root powder to minimize stress, always want to choose a pot 2in larger or more when repotting . Trim back only the brown/yellow leaves if any.

When repotting, check the roots. White/tan are healthy and black or mushy roots have root rot. Trim away the bad roots. I use a deleted mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water to mist the roots before potting.

Only water her when top two inches of soil are dry. She likes bright indirect light best (think window with sheer curtain over/filtered through.

Thankyou, the only issue is the soil has gone completely solid (assuming it’s gone hydrophobic :/) and it’s in a no drainage pot. So I may go pick up a rooting powder and look into that option. X

What ratio of hydrogen peroxide to water do you use to mist the roots? I did this once and completely massacred the plant because I burned her roots using a 1:3 ratio that I found in a post online.

I use a 1:6 ratio in an amber spray bottle, I also have a fear of burning the leaves. When spraying roots, just be sure to rinse with water before potting as well.

Repotting may be what’s best then! I prefer a chunky soil- indoor potting soil, orchid bark, perlite and horticulture charcoal.

I should say the 1:6 ratio is used as maintenance spray. I think a 1:3 is fine for repotting just rinse roots/plant well after?
