Hello! Y'all were a big help before, so thought I'd try again for help with a different plant. I bought this bromeliad a couple weeks ago. I read that most times when you buy these they have already bloomed, so I am assuming this one already has. And I understand that they begin to die once that happens. My question is, is that what is happening here? I noticed the center of it is browning and looking like it's dying. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I am watering in the cup. Which by the way, just to be clear the cup is the part I have circled, correct? I would like to keep her alive long enough to give me a pup to propagate. This one is definitely a bit of a learning curve for me! Thanks!

Yes, the center colorful part is the bloom. It’ll start to brown and die when it’s served its purpose. You can cut it back and the leaves will remain until it makes a baby and then that will bloom one time and it’ll make another baby and it continues. The time in between baby to flower is about 3 years though 😅

Ok cool. Where do I cut it? Right below where the colored part starts?

You’ll probably want to cut as far back as you can without damaging the main plant :)
