# Does anyone have an idea as to why my plants think my West - slightly…

Does anyone have an idea as to why my plants think my West - slightly northwest-facing window that also has a balcony above it is full sun? I now have a "picky eater corner" because I bought a prayer plant and apparently my back wall that does not get sunlight at any point in the day is part-sun. Be aware, he is doing much better now. Likewise, I have bought multiple full-sun plants that thrive near my window (when I remember to water them) and any part-sun plant has to go to the back of the room in the shade. I have spent days in my room before during various seasons and at no point can the light be considered "full sun". Note: I do live in Florida, which I currently assume at least plays into it. I have also gotten second degree burns at a nearby beach, which I don't think is totally normal. This is probably a strange question, especially coming from a full grown adult who is decent with plants, but is the sunlight actually more intense here, to the point that my plants should notice? Because I could swear it was not like this ten years ago...

Also note: in the window acts like full sun, underneath the sil acts like indirect sun, back of the room acts like part sun, and the back corner acts like indirect sun/shade.

I feel like there are a few possible explanations, but truth be told, I'm plainly speculating here. I think the sun really does vary in intensity, normally so subtly that we don't notice it, but occasionally enough to cause visible/palpable effects. A day the air is particularly clear might cause an increase in the amount of radiation that reaches surfaces as well. As for your windows, I'm assuming they are UV coated... Is it possible that, after a long time, the coating has somewhat degraded? There are probably enough data out there to at least tentatively support one of these points, if you're interested enough, but at the end of the day you've found what works for your plants. They're lucky they have you to notice changes in their conditions before they fry!

...also yes, the sunlight in FL is absolutely wild. I'm super light-skinned and get insta-freckled every time I visit 🤣😬

Thank you.I'll have to test these at some point, because I can't seem to go a day without wanting to test something. : )

Also, understandable. I get pain and blisters. I think Helios has it in for me./silly
