# My 2nd Bonnie spider plant. Want to make sure I get this right this…

_Publicado por PrettyLittleThings el 2026-03-24_

My 2nd Bonnie spider plant. Want to make sure I get this right this time. The first one quit on me due to over-watering.

How does she like to be Watered? Does she like it somewhat dry?

According to my research, she's one of the "easy ones" but I noticed that the "easy ones" are the hardest for me 😅.

Thanks for the advises in advance!

Mine like a lot of drainage and watering about once a week; I wait until the soil doesn’t stick to my finger when I poke into it.

Ok, thanks! I did a stick poking and there's some dirt in it a bit. I'm tempted to water her now but having doubts, lol. You know as they say, when in doubt, wait. 😂

They do like to dry out completely, I water mine like every few weeks

I agree with what everyone has said! I have a Bonnie who is one of my oldest plants, and she definitely handles underwatering like a champ!
Also, her leaves grew less “curly” over time and now she looks like a regular spider plant, even though she was super curly as a little plant! I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this with theirs?

This happened to mine too! I propagated mine from a shoot off a larger plant, and that one was super curly even though it was big. I suspect I’m under-watering mine… or under-sunning it… I might move her under a grow light and see if she gets her curls back!

I have a moisture meter. They have digital ones and analogs. I have the analog and have had it for years. Both are really cheap and take the guesswork out of whether your plant needs to be watered or not. Highly recommend

I do have it 😊

In my experience they do like the soil to dry out a bit. Also the leaves fade to a paler washed out green when they are thirsty.
