# Drop your suggestions please! I’m looking into plant food and also…

Drop your suggestions please! I’m looking into plant food and also things to keep pests away. However, I’m overwhelmed by the options and I would also REALLY prefer non-toxic options since I have toddlers and pets.

1.) Recommendations for plant food. (Is it even necessary?)

2.) Recommendations for non-toxic ways to keep pests away.

For # 2. Tea tree oil Castile soap, Peppermint Castile soap, mix with isopropyl alcohol and warm water. the alcohol will evaporate. I use this with a little hydrogen peroxide as well.

Highly recommend Super Thrive. I use it every watering for all my plants and it’s incredible to see the growth. Food is crucial, just like any other living entity 🙂 ur plants will surely thrive I promise

You can get this off Amazon, I use 1/2 tsp to every gallon of water. This jug cost me $12

best deterrent against pests is to let the soil dry between waterings. bugs and fungus only like to stick around as long as there’s water.

to treat against pests you have now, mix a drop of dish soap into a spray bottle of water and spray the entire plant. this won’t hurt the plant, just deters pests from eating the stem and leaves.

to treat roots, water with a solution of 1 part hydrogen peroxide and 5 parts water as needed. this kills eggs/fungus in the soil and near the roots.

a plant can usually SURVIVE without plant food, but in order to GROW, they’ll need either that, or new, nutrient rich soil. i’d recommend any plant food formulated for edible gardening.
