Alocasia. Possibly a frydek that's had some low humidity issues (new leaves getting stuck), or an uncommon leaf shape variety

They told me it was a Xanthosoma but I was unsure.

This looks like a Alocasia Mickey mouse " Xanthosoma Sagittifolium" to me
