The plant might be in shock from the repotting. Or maybe the lighting needs adjustment. Those would be my first two guesses. Plus maybe prune the bad leaves to encourage new, healthy growth.

I know nothing about plants just helping my mom would I rip the dead leaves off and cut the bad stems? Thank you for the advice!

The stems look ok. I would just get rid of the leaves at the front because they’re in pretty bad shape. And if the plant is too light it might be getting too much sunlight. I doubt it’s root rot because you just repotted this plant.
