Hey! Looking for advice - I’m a novice with houseplants but have had this lovely rubber plant for a year or more now. However it’s sprouted this second stem!? Any advice on why or what I need to do about it would be appreciated 😊

Has it produced any leaves? Is it floppy or has it just grown wonky like that bc it’s not supported? If it’s not easily able to be more upright and staked to continue to grow the way I’d prob chop it.

is the plant rootbound? that second “stem” looks like it might actually be an adventitious root

What do you suggest I do with this root, please? As it’s far too big to fit into a pot 😅

you could cut it off or leave it, or if the plant is rootbound, i would put it in a larger pot and tuck the whole root into the new pot, then backfill with new media

Yes if definitely looks like a root and not a stem
