# Planta’s telling me I should winterize my mini roses…but they’re…

_Posted by Biri on 2024-10-31_

Planta’s telling me I should winterize my mini roses…but they’re indoors, so what does this mean for me? The plant is doing well, I’ve kept it in a window that gets bright light all day pretty much (it is west facing), and I use a grow light on cloudy days. Thus far, the plant is doing really well, even though temperatures outside have dropped to 50-60°. It’s starting to bloom, and I put fertilizer in it every two weeks or so depending on when Planta tells me to. Should I continue what I’m doing? Or should I stop fertilizing now? I like it to be in bloom, I’ve had the plant for about a year and a half.

I wouldn’t worry about “winterizing” since they’re inside. I don’t know much about keeping roses inside but if you don’t prune them you’re probably okay to keep fertilizing. I use a lower strength or more water in the dilution for the winter.

This is a good time of year to stop fertilizing them, cut them back, reduce watering, turn off the grow lights if you use them, and let them rest and recover so they can give you a good show in the spring.
