Hi Plant friends!
I’ve had this plant here for 2 yrs+. I’ve used identification apps galore, everywhere it says it’s monstera deliciosa, however, this plant has never had fenestrations. Is she still monstera or could she be something else? Please help!

They dont fenestrate until they get more mature usually but you could have a heart leaf or split leaf philodendron. Big box stores tend to interchange the labels. Lol

Thank you! I did not know that!

Split leaf philodendrons actually look like they have very wavy fingers, not sure why people seem to get them confused with monsteras, and heart leaf philodendrons are much smaller like the size of a pothos and trailing too. This is a monstera deliciosa, just not very mature and seems like it is not getting enough light. In nature these plants usually climb up trees and the leaves at the top start to split so the lower leaves aren’t completely shaded. If the plant doesn’t have anything to climb and not a lot of life it will never feel like it’s climbing up that tree and never fully mature.

Thanks so much! This was very informative!

More light will help with the fenestrations. If not in bright enough light, you will probably never have them.

This is a monstera deliciosa in its juvenile form. Your plant needs way more light to grow to maturity if you want it to fenestrate. Also don’t forget to fertilize
