# Hello, I’m in need of some help. I recently started to get into…

Hello,

I’m in need of some help. I recently started to get into having plants and I’m very dedicated to keeping them alive. I bought a zebra plant last weekend and it’s been going well. I took some photos of it last night and the leaves looked great. However, I just got home from work and went to water it and the leaves are VERY droopy. I need help on how to fix it or what is causing it. The first pic below is of my plant yesterday and the second one is what it currently looks like. SOS

Overwatering or underwatering. When was the last time you watered the plant before today?

Hi! I watered it 3 days ago and I keep it in my bathroom for extra humidity

Okay, so zebra plants can thrive without water up to 5 days… and you want to always keep this plants soil moist, but careful not to overwater. A good method to see if the plant is ready to be watered is the chopstick method. The chopstick method is when you take a chopstick and place it in the plant soil, if the chopstick comes out dirty, the plant does not need to be watered. If the chopstick comes out clean, the plant does need to be watered. When my plants droop it is usually because they need to be watered. Try checking the soil with a chopstick.

Thank you so much! The photos were taken less than 24hrs apart so I am baffled this happened so quickly

What if you’re checking a plant with high moisture needs and the chopstick comes out just a little bit dirty. How would you judge that for these moisture look loving plants? 🤔 I’ve been using the chopstick method and I find myself waiting too long to water some of my water loving plants and their tips have dried. How exactly do you determine moisture needs for these moisture loving plants?🪴❣️

Personally I use the water meter reader stick that you can buy at Home Depot \& on amazon for like $20, it stops me from over watering my plants. I’d let this guy dry out a bit before watering again :)

I just got this plant about a month ago and I had the same problem but it was on a warm sunny day and it was directly in the window and I moved it and it perked back up eventually. I they dont like heat and sun as much, it likes shade and humidity. Where it’s at now it gets dappled sun for less time and it’s doing great
