# I have some polka dot plants / hippo white that were in flower pots…

_Posted by Lgroener on 2025-02-08_

I have some polka dot plants / hippo white that were in flower pots outside this past summer. I’ve brought them inside to try and keep them for next summer. They are healthy enough, but stemmy. I know I need to prune them to promote more bushy growth, but how/when? How far back should I cut and is there an ideal time to do it?

It's getting enough light in warm temps you could cut it now otherwise wait till the spring. I have trimmed those back to the edge of the pot but that was when they were in 5-in pots. I'd say cut them down by half maybe even more. You could probably try to propagate the tops too.

Oh propagating is a good idea! I just bought rooting power today
