# what are y’all’s thoughts on removing dead leaves that have fallen…

what are y’all’s thoughts on removing dead leaves that have fallen off from inside the pot? on one hand it’s very satisfying to me to remove an old leaf because it means new ones are coming in, but on the other hand i feel like it could be a fertilizer of sorts. would love to hear any other thoughts! 🪿

I remove them. It can be a great place for pests to live, and I’m fertilizing them anyways.

Agreed. Plus, I like to have a clear view of all the topsoil to assess for pests and fungus when I water

Remove them. Decaying plant debris attracts fungus gnats and other insects that live in soil. It blocks the soil from drying out leading to root rot.
