Rubber plant leaves puckering.

Hey guys, I’m a new plant mom. I was sick for a few weeks and I was VERY impulsive and got too many plants, not enough research, basically every mistake has been made here. So it has been an eventful and extremely educational experience. But there is a lot of conflicting info online about a lot of things so I want to ask the community directly.
I got this rubber plant and the leaves have these big indents or puckers or dimples (idk what you would call them) and a couple of the leaves are droopy. From what I’ve learned, these plants hate being moved. So is this just a normal reaction to such a drastic change in environment or does this look like a specific issue?
It is still in the grow pot which has 4 drainage holes on the outer bottom of the pot. I want to repot into terracotta but I also didn’t want to do that so soon after it just got here. The soil meter is reading as moist about halfway down the pot, but reads as wet when it gets towards the bottom. Do the roots reach down that far? Or do you think they only reach down around where the meter says moist and the “wet” soil at the bottom is more like a reservoir? No signs of pests that I can see. Soil looks really good from what I’ve read about. Looks like it’s a well draining mix with tons of chunky bits, perlite, bark, etc
Humidity is around 75 percent and temp is between 75 and 80. It is about 5 feet away from a south facing window. It has 3 or four red leaf sleeves but they were already there when I got him so it’s not a sign of being happy in my care and I know they don’t guarantee a healthy new leaf. I can give any other info you need or take pictures. I just want to do this the right way. I feel like I owe it to my plants after being so careless and impulsive when I got them. I truly had no idea what I was getting into. It’s been fulfilling though.

This is from Google.. as I do no have a rubber plant.

Dented or indented rubber plant leaves are likely caused by a calcium deficiency, often due to issues with the plant's environment or watering habits. Calcium is essential for proper cell development, and when it's lacking, leaves can form with dents, puckers, or other imperfections.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Causes of Dented Leaves:
Calcium Deficiency:
Calcium is a vital nutrient for plant cell wall development. If the plant doesn't have access to enough calcium, its leaves can form abnormally, resulting in dents or other imperfections.
Cultural Factors:
Several factors can contribute to a calcium deficiency, including:
Poor Oxygen Supply: Compacted soil, overwatering, or underwatering can restrict oxygen flow to the roots, hindering calcium uptake.
Inconsistent Watering: Fluctuations in moisture levels can stress the plant and affect its ability to absorb nutrients.
Low Light: Inadequate light can also impact calcium absorption and overall plant health.
High Humidity or Cool Temperatures: These conditions can also interfere with calcium uptake.
Mechanical Damage:
Sometimes, the leaves can be dented if they are bumped or pressed while they are still developing.
Troubleshooting and Solutions:
1\. Assess Watering Habits:
Ensure the plant is watered when the top inch or two of soil is dry, and avoid overwatering or letting the plant sit in standing water.
2\. Check Soil Conditions:
Make sure the soil is well-draining and not compacted. Consider repotting with a well-draining potting mix if necessary.
3\. Evaluate Light Conditions:
Ensure the plant receives adequate light, but avoid harsh, direct sunlight.
4\. Consider Fertilizer:
If the plant is otherwise healthy, a balanced liquid fertilizer can help provide the necessary nutrients, including calcium.
5\. Remove Damaged Leaves:
If the damage is severe or unsightly, you can prune off the affected leaves with clean, sharp scissors or pruning shears.
6\. Monitor for Pests or Diseases:
While dents are usually not caused by pests, it's still a good idea to check for any signs of infestation (e.g., yellowing leaves, webbing) and treat them promptly.

The same thing happened to my rubber plant. It turns out they don’t always thrive indoors, so placing it outdoors in a shaded area might be the best option.

Well I hope there’s a way I can at least keep it alive even if it’s not thriving, because I do not own any land to plant it outside :/

You don’t need to plant it in the ground, just placing it on your balcony or porch is enough. It just needs a bit of that outdoor environment. I keep mine tucked in a corner of my balcony.

It seems like you got a lot of great advice already. I'm just here to say you're not alone in having a period of impulsive plant-buying... I did the exact same thing a month ago. Something about being stuck at home during Plant Fever Season™️ made buying plants online irresistible!
