# SOS!!!! I was planning on splitting and repotting my raven zz plant,…

SOS!!!! I was planning on splitting and repotting my raven zz plant, because I knew it was root bound and needed to be replanted months ago. I finally got around to it today, and had to cut the plastic pot to get it out. I was planning on splitting it in two, but this is a mess of roots and rhizomes. Might put into three because it’s so big🥲 What would you guys do? Any tips?

i would say into two for now. damage is inevitable when you're splitting plants but it is possible to control the amount of damage you do, you never want a plant to lose more than 1/3 of it's root system at any given time or you risk really bad shock. splitting into three looks like it would cause significantly more root loss than into two
