Hello All and HNY!
Can you please advise if you compose banana peel or make banana peel tea for your indoor plants and outdoor gardens. What were the results? Do you use the tea along with “appropriate” fertilizer? I just read an article and I am curious. I live in 6b state and have loamy sand ( which dries out quickly). TY!

I have seen people do this overseas, and they swear by it. I have not. They only real benefit would be potassium, and not the full NPK. And thats only if the peels were left to break down enough, there is no guarantee on how much potassium, if any you get. But you could end up with the introduction of fungus or something else from not fully composted organic materials. So for me there's no benefit to adding it to my fertilizer routine, when i already feed potassium. Now, supplementing with potassium will fortify your plant from dry out, as will silica.

I’m going to try baking peels at 350F for 15 mins. Place in a plastic bag and use a rolling pin to turn it to a powder. Then use a spoonful on plants needing it. Banana tea stinks to high heaven.
