Thai Con mavens.. need opinions please. This is what remains of my TC.. leaves rotted at the base. I have cut all the bad roots off and wondering if there’s any chance to salvage it.. if so, how?? Prop box it? TIA
(It kinda looks like an alien or scary bug)

It looks like your friend's plant, which seems to be a Thai Constellation Monstera or a similar type of plant, is experiencing root rot. Since they have already cut off the bad roots, there may still be a chance to salvage the plant. Here’s how they can try to save it:

\### Steps to Save the Plant:

1\. \*\*Clean the Roots:\*\*
\- \*\*Rinse the Roots:\*\* Gently rinse the remaining roots with lukewarm water to remove any soil and ensure no rotten parts are left.
\- \*\*Trim Damaged Roots:\*\* If there are still some soft, mushy, or blackened roots, use sterilized scissors or pruning shears to trim them away. Only healthy, firm roots should remain.

2\. \*\*Disinfect the Roots:\*\*
\- \*\*Use a Fungicide:\*\* Consider dipping the roots in a fungicide solution to prevent further rot and kill any lingering pathogens.
\- \*\*Hydrogen Peroxide Soak:\*\* Alternatively, a diluted hydrogen peroxide soak (1 part 3% hydrogen peroxide to 4 parts water) can help disinfect the roots.

3\. \*\*Prepare a Propagation Box:\*\*
\- \*\*Create a High-Humidity Environment:\*\* If you have a propagation box, this is an ideal place to encourage root growth. Fill it with damp sphagnum moss, perlite, or a mixture of both to provide a humid environment.
\- \*\*Place the Plant:\*\* Lay the plant on the damp medium, ensuring the roots are in contact with it but not buried too deeply.

4\. \*\*Monitor and Wait:\*\*
\- \*\*Maintain Humidity:\*\* Keep the humidity high in the propagation box by misting the moss or perlite regularly. Ensure it stays moist but not waterlogged.
\- \*\*Provide Indirect Light:\*\* Place the box in a location with bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can stress the plant further.
\- \*\*Air Circulation:\*\* Open the propagation box periodically to allow fresh air in and prevent mold growth.

5\. \*\*Check for New Roots:\*\*
\- \*\*Watch for Growth:\*\* Over the next few weeks, monitor the plant for signs of new root growth. Be patient, as it may take some time for new roots to develop.

6\. \*\*Re-Potting:\*\*
\- \*\*Re-Pot in Well-Draining Soil:\*\* Once you see new roots forming, you can carefully re-pot the plant into a well-draining potting mix. Consider using a mix of peat, perlite, and orchid bark to provide good aeration.
\- \*\*Water Sparingly:\*\* Water the plant sparingly at first, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings to prevent rot from recurring.

\### Additional Tips:
\- \*\*Avoid Overwatering:\*\* Moving forward, ensure the plant is not overwatered. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again.
\- \*\*Good Drainage:\*\* Make sure the pot has proper drainage holes to avoid water accumulation at the roots.
\- \*\*Use Clean Tools:\*\* Always use sterilized tools when handling the plant to avoid introducing pathogens.

By following these steps, your friend may be able to revive their plant and encourage new growth. It might take some time, but with care and patience, there's a chance the plant can recover.
