So I got this plant at a plant swap. It's a New Rio Philodendrom from what I was told. It has all these little starts in the pot and on the thick stem and I would love to propagate it but not sure how to do it. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks for the help

I've never done this but it looks like there are some tiny Roots starting on the side of that thick stem so maybe if you cut it maybe an inch or two on either side of that shoot and propagate it in some Moss or lay it just barely in some seed starter soil?

I'm not sure if they are roots or new starts yet but I will keep watching to see what happens. Thanks

Maybe I’m speaking out of turn, but when I saw your plant, the first thing I thought was, there’s already a baby there! I’m looking at the base of your plant, and it looks just like several of mine have, when they’ve popped a new baby plant at the base of the mother’s stem. I usually let them mature a bit, so they’re not quite so fragile, then I repot them into their own little pot, and take care of them as I would an adult plant. I’ve had great luck with Philo‘s having babies… and their babies having babies… really!
Good luck!

Those are likely aerial roots looking for something to climb…

Most of my philodendrons pop up with pups and they grow their own roots so when you repot the plant …. as long as the pup has root, you can break it from the mother plant and put it in a smaller pot so the roots have a better chance on growing…. I usually dip the base of the plant in rooting hormones as well. And water like normal
