Any tips on keeping a Venus fly trap alive and happy during a cold and gloomy Minnesota winter? I am really excited about my new plant but know that this is not the ideal climate for it!

I believe fly traps can go dormant if they get too cold. I would to keep it somewhere inside where it gets plenty of light and make sure it does not dry out at all

I am in the same boat. I just picked one up and it doesn’t seem the happiest, especially with this recent cold streak we are getting 😔 I’ll keep doing my best and hopefully someone has great advice!

VFTs need a dormancy period every year to help with the growth in the long run. you can find some great videos on youtube for this, my favorite would be by Plants with Krystal.

there are a lot of super knowledgeable people on here, and will hopefully see this and give more in depth info, but there are two options for putting them through dormancy. the fridge method, and simply putting them in a colder place in your house.

sorry i couldnt help that well, but if you are the kind of person who enjoys a little reseach, googling would also give more info.
best of luck!!
