this is a baby monstera i recently got, and im wondering if i should be concerned about the black/brown parts? they were there when i first got it (about 2 weeks ago) and i changed the soil a little bit ago to a tropical soil mix. the last photo is from when i first got it

It looks like the nursery trimmed it back and there’s new growth coming from one of the areas so I wouldn’t worry about it

This is definitely what happened..
Looks like when you first bought it those two shoots that now have healed over that had leaves (at least on the way home, but I doubt they made it overnight) were already damaged on the stem and doomed from the get-go. Not your fault at all. Also the colder temps outside can speed up cell decomposition..

However, now it looks like it’s healing and actually shooting out new leafs out of the larger existing shoot already! I wouldn’t be worried about it at all, just be careful of getting too much moisture directly on the stems and shoots (as they hold water and create rot). Amazing baby plant, goodluck😊
