# The ends of the leaves of my painted pothos have been drying up and…

_Posted by maggie on 2025-01-12_

The ends of the leaves of my painted pothos have been drying up and blackening. He has plenty of water so I don’t think he is too dry. Could it be over watering, or something in the soil? I used to keep him in just plain water in a jar but once i moved him to soil this started happening. Any suggestions?

Slight browning of the tips is often a humidity issue. That looks like it might be a fungal issue as extensive as it is and the yellow haloing

Might be a fungal issue or something so search about that but also. I’m saying this bcs you said you water them decently. If you get water on some kinds of leaves. It may burn through the leaves bcs of the high sun rays. So in general avoid leaves. Doubt it’s the reason tho bcs it would most likely make a hole through them

Looks overwatered with potential root rot or low lighting. I assume that’s not a north window and there’s sufficient light. Then, check for root rot. Let the soil dry out between waterings. Bottom water in a tray to soak both the clay pot and soil. Then, let the soil completely dry out again. Fertilize.
