I have recently purchased a Venus flytrap. How often should I feed it? I have already fed it 2 woodlouse today.

My rule is that when I notice none of the traps are digesting anything I wait about a week before refeeding

Don’t use tap water!! That was my mistake. Improper research ☹️

Yes, please don’t use tap water. My VFT is having issues because I didn’t realize I should be using distilled or rain water. I’m going to have to change out his soil now, which I’m not looking forward to. Oh, and I feed my flytrap about every 2 weeks, which seems to keep him happy enough.

Worth noting that insects are more like vitamins to VFT. They still like to have a lot of direct sunlight. They also like to keep their “feet” wet in distilled or rain water on a platter. Make sure you use a plastic pot with drainage. Terracotta pots will leach minerals into the soil that will poison your VFT.
