_Posted by Beginner on 2024-01-22_

Someone gifted these 3 plants to my family and I’d love to learn how to take care of them! I believe they are a Manjula Pothos, a Dieffenbachia Compacta (Dumb Cane), and a Rattlesnake Plant. Please let me know if I’m wrong!

I’d love any advice I can get on them! The only thing is I’m on a budget, so preferably advice I can work with with what I already have or easy to access stuff!!

Also should I prune them?

The pothos and cane make sure u do not overwater them. Once every two weeks maybe. Cute the brown leaves of the cane. U should be fine

Hi! These are beauty and I know you’re going to do a great job with them! I suggest cutting off the yellow leaves on the first and third plant just so they’re not taking up too much energy on the plant.

Pothos are very easy and low maintenance. Try not to water it too much.

Over this past year I’ve learned how to listen to and study my plants, they’ll tell you everything with their slight movements, etc. try to enjoy them and not over think it.

Since you’re a new plant parent, I suggest using user @plantyann skewer/chopstick trick where you stick it in your soil unit it reaches the bottom, leave it for a minute, and then see if any damp soil is on it. If not it’s time to water. Start with small increments until you get comfortable.

Most importantly, have fun and just enjoy the view. Best of luck ❤️🧚🏾‍♀️

One last thing, if you can, invest in a humidifier. It’s not required, but that will help your plants flourish!

Thank you SO MUCH for everything you’ve said!! I really appreciate it all!! I’ll definitely cut those leaves when I have a chance to!!

Those are some pretty plants! But just be careful with the Dieffenbachia, ingesting any part of the plant can cause your throat to swell up and cause difficulty breathing and speaking. That applies to pets too. And as @PlantLady mentioned, the sap can be irritating to your skin and eyes.
