Did I kill my string of dolphins? I already killed my string of pearls.

It’s not dead but it is dying. What is your watering schedule like? It is dying from where I have it marked towards the root. You need to cut it off and propagate it anew. It’s not able to get anything from the soil as it’s dead where it connects to the soil.

You can propagate in water, well draining soil (so a diy is best to ensure the right ratios of ingredients), perlite, sphagnum moss, or leca. There are pros and cons to all. I prop in soil now but considering doing it in perlite for some more temperamental plants.

You still need to figure out why the plants died. Is it a watering issue? Pests? Insufficient light/fertilizer? I can’t tell the cause from the picture. I would suspect overwatering since it’s dying from the base like root rot plus the soil looks like it has fungal growth which needs a wetter soil. I’m only about 10 percent confident that’s the reason without seeing more pictures as the plant was dying. 🤔

They had root rot. When I pulled them out to cut them and propagate they were moldy and mushy.

I just noticed the yellow card to attract fungus gnats. The fungus gnat larvae eat roots especially roots of plants with root rot. I recommend getting a well draining soil labeled for succulents or add lots of perlite to standard potting mix. Let the soil dry between watering.

Getting rid of pests is mandatory or all your plants will suffer. I’ve found Mosquito Bits added to the soil kills off the larvae in soil. It is a beneficial bacteria (bti) that breaks the life cycle of the gnats and other pests that eat plant roots.
