This is the plant that gave me SO MUCH HEADACHE this summer. Huge thrips infestation that ultimately impacted SO MANY of my plants. She’s thriving now.

But who can tell me what the big, yellowish thing is. There are at least two more (smaller). Not worried, just curious, as they seem a part of the root system.

strange, but yes, most marantaceae have tubers underground to store water. since they are such thirsty plants, this helps them survive the occasional drought
