Does anyone have any tips on looking after a polka dot plant? I’ve had mine for 4 months and she’s very temperamental. Anything about watering, light, temperature etc would be much appreciated! She’s doing well at the moment, but I’d like to make her more stable I guess? Thank you, and Merry Christmas :D

This is just their nature. They are very temporary plants.

don’t own any of this species but i’ve heard they only really thrive in terrariums or under a cloche, as they have a very high humidity need

I never had luck with the polka dot plant. I tried every suggestion out there. Mine was dramatic af! They like humidity and bright indirect light. Careful not to overwater!! If they get leggy, they need more light. Good luck!

Mine was thriving and very full but spent a couple days outside when I moved over the summer and got fungus gnats so I chopped it and am propagating it. I left the chopped gnat infested one outside and it ended up putting out new leaves and looked pretty good until it got cold outside. Mine loved misting and tons of indirect light (my mom almost killed it when she forgot about it for a couple days in a spot that got direct sunlight). I found that pinching the leaf tips once it gets to a desired size was very effective for preventing it from getting out of hand and also encouraged it to put out more lower leaves.

Also pulling off the flowers as they develop helps the plant divert more energy into growing leaves
