Beginner question here… when I’m supposed to “mist” my plants, do I mist the soil or the leaves?

The leaves. I mist all my plants daily. Even more often than the app suggests. And they’re thriving.

there’s no need to mist your plants if you don’t want to. in fact, excessive misting (multiple times a day) can increase your plants’ chances of fungal infections and reduce their ability to photosynthesize. i only spray my plants leaves when applying pest management or prevention. a humidifier keeps the humidity at a decent level for my tropicals, since misting also does basically nothing for the local humidity
