# Recently tried to up my plant game for this dwarf elephant ear I got…

_Posted by Greenoasis on 2023-12-17_

Recently tried to up my plant game for this dwarf elephant ear I got and this morning found a bit of brown discoloring on the edge of one of the leaves. Thinking it’s from it being too cold? I got heat mats to try to help a few days ago as we keep our house on the colder side but wondering if the mats most likely aren’t enough to increase the whole temp of the enclosed shelf. Any thoughts?
Photo of the brown edge in the second one.

It’s probably not a temperature issue. My potted elephant ears live outside all year. Temperatures range from 40°F to 70°F in colder months. I cover them during freezing temperatures.

It could be stress of a new environment if recently purchased. The humidity is high enough. It could be an older leaf dying. Being late on watering can cause it.
