# hello everyone! i wanted to ask the community; how do you guys keep…

hello everyone! i wanted to ask the community; how do you guys keep your kitties from eating your beloved plants? i desperately want to live in a rainforest, but have to jump through hoops to keep my green friends away from my furry friends. we’ve tried growing them troughs of cat grass, putting citrus juice and peels in the planters/leaves, along with tin foil and stones, but they are simply hyperfixated on eating the ones they can’t have (it seems like they’re ESPECIALLY focused on getting to the toxic ones ?! 😭) we’ve been reduced to having all our plants either hanging or on shelves they can’t reach. (one of the culprits in question attached)

I have had no luck except for keeping them out of reach. Definitely inhibits creating a rainforest

Cats are simply smarter than us 😭, the only solution I had was keeping them out on my balcony where the cats can’t go, hanging them, or keeping them in a designated room where the cats don’t go. 🥲

See my response to fern just above you. But I think if your cat likes to nibble, it’s best not to have toxic plants. I know, I want that one too, but I also want to keep my cat safe.

If your window allows it and your plants are small enough there are some suction cup shelves on Amazon that work really well. As long as you can put it up where the cats can’t jump to it

Mist the plants with a cayenne pepper and water mixture. That worked for my cat.
