# Hi! I just got my very first plant and am completely new to plant…

Hi! I just got my very first plant and am completely new to plant care. I was told I don’t have to water it until the soil is dry which will probably be sometime next week, but I was wondering how should I water it? Is a glass of water fine? Or do I spray it? And how much water should I give it? Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

That’s a pretty plant! When you water, poke your finger in the soil to make sure it’s dry, then water until the excess runs out of the drainage at the bottom. If there isn’t a drainage hole, you’ll need to put the plant in a pot that has a hole. The amount of water you give it doesn’t really matter, it’s the frequency that’s important. You don’t need to mist it.

welcome to the plant community!! also i know this wasn’t in your question but some really good beginner plants are snake plants and aloe vera!! goodluck with your plant 🪴

Just water it with room temp water until it runs out the drainage hole at the bottom and then stop and let it drain! This is a cute plant! Goodluck!

You could try bottom watering. Which is when you fill a bowl with some water and put your plant pot in it. You do not need to spray it! I have the same plant and found that this works best for me, as these plants have fragile root structures and can be prone to root rot. Have a good day!
