id like to say money tree? does it have a wooden “stem”?

#### Holly replied on 2023-11-21

It does, and I thought that too, until I realized that none of the leaves are growing in groups - all just single, alternating! In comparison, my money tree grows petioles that sprout 4 or 5 leaves together!

oh wow what a mystery! another idea i had was a rubber tree but who knows! it’s a gorgeous plant though!

It’s a shoebutton!

I learned about a new plant today!😃

Thank you!!! I’ve been trying to figure it out for such a long time!

it appears to be ardisia humilis, or red ardisia. never heard of a shoebutton but that might be another common name for this plant

Yep! Seems like they’re the same thing.

FYI since I learned what it was, I’ve been able to improve its care and it has new growth now for the first time since I’ve been caring for it!
